27-Day Juice Cleanse: Days 1-4

27 days may seem like a long time, but it’s just one day and then another and another. Hell, It’s a long time. Who am I kidding? Doing a juice cleanse for long time can be a challenge. It’s not easy, but it is rewarding. It’s transformed my body before. I had more energy, felt lighter, maintained the weight off for some years, it helped get rid of some weird pains in my body…all good things. The first three days are rough. I’m on day one right now…and surprisingly I don’t feel terrible.  I’m just as surprised as you are. If your reading this, I’m glad your here. I really don’t want to do this alone. If you decide you want to give it a shot, or if you just want a couple of recipes to add to your usual diet. Please, help yourself to any of the information that I’ll be providing the next 27 days. I’ve included the first 4 days in this post. The grocery list and what it cost me. I know sometimes juicing seems expensive. It’s not cheap by no means, but the reward exceeds the financial aspect. If you think about it, eating out is expensive too. We don’t even know what they’re putting in there half the time! Well, let’s give it a go!

Before starting, make sure that you have the necessary tools for juicing. A masticating juicer is recommended.

  • 1 Organic Lemon (wax-free) =$6.49          (I ended up having to buy a bag of lemons since I needed Organic.)

  • 4 tsp Macha Protein Powder ( if desired) =$3.18
  • 2 Tbsp Mixed Seeds (Sunflower,Pumpkin,Chia) =$2.16
  • 1 Bag Frozen Berries (blueberries, blackberries) =$4.99

Total Spent: =$90.09


I shopped at Wegmans, which is an affordable Whole Foods like store. It’s pretty awesome. Buying Organic is the best way to go, I wasn’t able to get everything organic. I did get really lucky at Wegmans since they have a protein powder bar where you can buy just what you need. The protein powder isn’t necessary, same as the seeds. The seeds give you extra protein but if you don’t like the crunchiness you can opt out. I didn’t even get an crunchiness in the juice but its up to you especially if you’re allergic. The four days of juicing totals to 16 juices. Some of the juices will be 12oz., others will be 26oz. If you don’t include the four mini juice shots taken in the morning. The average price per juice comes out to $5.63!  That’s not bad if you like buying smoothies and juices at a drive-thru. Making it yourself, also lets you know exactly what is being put in your juice. It’s not being watered down by ice, lemonade isn’t added without your knowledge, or a weird filler juice aka pre-made flavor juice isn’t being poured in (someone actually called a pre-made juice…flavor juice. The lady didn’t even know what was in it. Yikes!).  It’s just your juicer, veggies, and fruit. Pure Deliciousness!
